Guardian Home Program – Help Us Raise the Best, While Loving One of Your Own
At Good Day Doodles, we believe every dog deserves to be a permanent member of a loving family. While we wish we could keep all of our breeding dogs in our home, it simply isn’t possible. That’s where our Guardian Home Program comes in—a special opportunity for qualified families to raise one of our “best of the best” Australian Labradoodles at a significantly reduced cost.
To qualify for our program, you must:
Live within a 50-mile radius of Greensboro, NC
Have a fenced yard or commit to keeping your dog leashed when outside
Be willing to keep your dog indoors as a loved family member—not left alone outside for long periods
Have a flexible schedule or reliable backup to accommodate time-sensitive vet visits
Be committed to daily care, basic obedience, and socialization
Notify us at the first sign of a heat cycle so we can begin the breeding process
Guardian Program- Females
As a guardian, you’ll bring home a pick-of-the-litter puppy, chosen for her excellent temperament, health, and structure. She will be your beloved pet, living with you full-time and enjoying life as a cherished family member.
Your responsibilities are minimal but important during two key phases: breeding and whelping.
Breeding Phase
Health testing and progesterone pulls will be done at Reidsville Animal Hospital (Reidsville, NC) at our expense.
Progesterone testing usually requires a minimum of two vet visits—each lasting about 15–30 minutes—to track her hormone levels. Additional visits may be needed depending on how quickly her levels rise.
Once she hits the ideal range, breeding will occur approximately 4 days later.
Breeding takes place in Greensboro and is scheduled around the availability of the breeder, dam, and stud owner. However, the exact days are determined by nature and are not flexible, so you must have a flexible schedule or a backup helper.
She is usually bred on two separate days with a rest day in between.
Whelping Phase
When she’s about one week away from her due date, she’ll come stay with us to deliver and care for her puppies.
She remains with us for about 6 weeks, until the puppies are weaned.
During this time, you’re welcome to visit her and the puppies as often as you’d like.
After the puppies are weaned, she returns home to you.
How Many Litters?
As long as she has easy deliveries and clearly enjoys being a mother, she may have up to four litters total. After her final litter, we’ll spay her and transfer full ownership to you, so she can live out the rest of her life as your cherished pet.
Guardian Home Program – Male Dogs
Our male guardians are just as important to our breeding program as the females—and they get to enjoy the same loving, full-time life as a family pet in your home.
If you live within 50 miles of Greensboro, NC, have a flexible schedule, and would love to raise a top-quality Australian Labradoodle, becoming a male guardian home might be the perfect fit!
What to Expect
Your male dog will live with you full-time as your cherished companion. As with all dogs in our program, he will be fully health tested at our expense, and we’ll cover all costs related to reproduction.
Male guardianship typically involves less time commitment than female guardianship, but flexibility is still important.
Breeding Notifications & Responsibilities
We will notify you when we anticipate needing your boy for breeding—usually with at least two months’ notice.
However, unexpected requests can arise, such as:
A scheduled stud is suddenly unavailable
A female comes into heat earlier than expected
Another breeder requests his services for an approved outside program
When breeding is scheduled, you’ll need to bring your boy to us for a short visit, or we may meet at a mutually convenient location.
In some cases, he may stay with us for 1–2 days at a time (we’ll always coordinate with you in advance).
After his job is done, he returns home to you right away.
Once his time as a stud is complete—typically by age 7, or when he’s no longer needed for the program—we will neuter him at our expense and officially transfer full ownership to you.
Becoming a male guardian is a wonderful way to enjoy one of our top Australian Labradoodles while playing an important role in preserving the breed’s future. With less disruption to your daily routine and fewer time-sensitive commitments, it’s an ideal way to be involved in our program.
Let us know if you’d like to be considered as a guardian for one of our boys!
